Kentmere Book Services

Kentmere Book Services is run by Colin and Sam Bertram. We are based in the small city of Lancaster, just south of the Lake District in the North-West of England.
In 2015 we self-published Twenty British Folktales as an ebook, and in 2016 we self-published an enhanced edition in hard-copy, Twenty-One British Folktales, with illustrations by Dorothy Jackman. These are the first titles that we have co-authored, but we have each published books in our own right in various formats - hardback and paperback editions as well as an ebook - encompassing both self-publishing and conventional publishing.

Sam grew up in North Buckinghamshire, and she retains a fondness for the unusual saints and stories of that area which has influenced her career as a professional historian. Writing as Samantha Riches she has published two books and a number of articles on the cult of St George and other pseudo-historical saints; she has also co-edited a book on medieval saints and gender. Sam has worked extensively as an editor and proofreader, particularly for local history books published by Lancaster University.
