Need help creating a website to promote your book?

 

If you would like us to design a website in order to increase sales of your book then we will be happy to help. There are various free website builder programs on the internet, including wix.com which we have used to build this site.

If you are fairly confident with your IT skills then you may want to have a go at creating a website yourself but if reading this description leaves you feeling like you need an interpreter, then we are here to give you a helping hand. Wix and other similar sites such as Weebly do not charge you to create a website but if you want your site to be free of advertisements and have your own domain name then you will need to pay for one of their packages. Wix is currently offering a personal use package at just over £5 a month and this includes a free domain name for the first year. Put simply, here's how it works:

1. Choose a unique name for your website.

2. Select a template from the numerous ones Wix has already created. A template is basically an imitation website which you use as a starting point rather than start from scratch. There is at least one specifically for writers to use.

3. Start adding your own content to the template. You can upload your own photos, for example your book cover, you can have a description of your book and include a biography and photo of yourself.

4. Once you are happy with how it looks, you publish it and anyone on the internet will be able to see your website.

These are just suggestions - as with your book, we are here to advise you and help with the technical stuff. At the end of the day it is your website as much as it is your book. As you can see at the bottom of this page, you can have links to Facebook and Twitter as well as other social media sites. You can also have your own blog or create an online store. Alternatively you can add links to places where people can buy your book, such as Amazon, Smashwords or lulu.com. You can even include your own video where you tell potential readers about your book. The possibilities are endless but you may prefer to keep it simple. The choice is yours.
